The Story Behind The Title: Man Of The Crowd

edgarallenpoe

"The Man of the Crowd" is a short story by American writer Edgar Allan Poe about a nameless narrator following a man through a crowded London. It was first published in 1840. The narrator becomes fascinated with one intriguing man in that crowd. The narrator begins to follow this man around London throughout the night, telling of the twists and turns that continue into the morning.

Ellison identified with the nameless narrator who isn't recognized by the crowd or the fascinating man, but has stories to tell of them. Her stories, of course, surround the Harbaughs.

This isn't the first time the Ravens have been inspired by Poe. The name of the franchise was inspired by another of Poe's classics, "The Raven," a narrative poem first published in 1845.
