Dent Education

Dent Education promotes equity by empowering under-resourced youth to discover and develop their innate creative potential to shape the world around them. We strive to be an anti-oppression organization. We believe societal institutions are unjustly designed and maintained in ways that disproportionately harm marginalized communities. From criminal justice, housing, health care, transportation, education and more: oppression is entrenched in our social systems. The students we serve experience oppression based on the intersections of race, socioeconomics, age, and various aspects of their identities and lived experience. Systemic oppression stifles one's ability to express themself, hinders access to resources and opportunities, and violates the human right to achieve agency and choice in life.

Next One Up

Next One Up (NOU) empowers 'high-risk' middle and high school students in Baltimore City by providing long-term mentoring and coaching on the field and in the classroom. The innovative approach pushes beyond the boundaries of typical programs to make a lasting difference in students' lives. Next One Up's goal is to ensure that middle school students find their way to a good high school where they can truly thrive, and that they successfully graduate on a clear path to college or career.

Weekend Backpacks

The mission of Weekend Backpacks is to improve the lives of students affected by food insecurity in Baltimore. We envision that all students are nourished and ready to learn. There are more than 3,000 homeless children in Baltimore City Schools. While they get breakfast and lunch when school is in session, Baltimore City has no state or federally funded weekend food programs for schoolchildren. Studies show that hungry children incur delays in their physical, intellectual and emotional development. This is where we come in.
